A massive thunderstorm on Labour Day (1st May 2011) evening uprooted trees along Jalan Desa Permai, Puncak Desa and Linkungan Desa. The uprooted tree at Jalan Desa Permai damaged 3 vehicles parked outside houses whilst the tree which fell at Puncak Desa damaged a vehicle parked along the road. The tree which fell at Lingkungan did not cause any damage.
In addition to the damage to cars, the Jalan Desa Permai tree also caused damage to power cables. To prevent electrocution to the workers cleaning up, power supply to the area had to be cut-off. The Bomba was the first to respond and cleared the roads for traffic to flow. DBKL crew then came by at approximately 7.45pm to start clearing the felled trees. Tenaga Nasional Berhad arrived at approximately 10.00pm and wanted to leave to return later. They were however convinced by Committee Members to stay and wait as dinner was provided for all of them.
Clearing of the fallen trees was completed at approximately 2.30am and power was restored to affected homes by 3.00am.
Committee members were on scene throughout the clearing up work to render whatever assistance possible to those affected by the falling trees.
