A massive thunderstorm on Labour Day (1st May 2011) evening uprooted trees along Jalan Desa Permai, Puncak Desa and Linkungan Desa. The uprooted tree at Jalan Desa Permai damaged 3 vehicles parked outside houses whilst the tree which fell at Puncak Desa damaged a vehicle parked along the road. The tree which fell at Lingkungan did not cause any damage.
In addition to the damage to cars, the Jalan Desa Permai tree also caused damage to power cables. To prevent electrocution to the workers cleaning up, power supply to the area had to be cut-off. The Bomba was the first to respond and cleared the roads for traffic to flow. DBKL crew then came by at approximately 7.45pm to start clearing the felled trees. Tenaga Nasional Berhad arrived at approximately 10.00pm and wanted to leave to return later. They were however convinced by Committee Members to stay and wait as dinner was provided for all of them.
Clearing of the fallen trees was completed at approximately 2.30am and power was restored to affected homes by 3.00am.
Committee members were on scene throughout the clearing up work to render whatever assistance possible to those affected by the falling trees.
TDP1RA Committee
I have noticed that the guards manning the checkpoints hardly ever check for car stickers.
ReplyDeletemore often than not, they just open the gate and any tom, dick, and harry can drive through.
often they dont even look at the car and just open the gate lazily.
none of my friends (who are not taman desa residents) have ever been stopped be it in the day or in the evening.
this is a far cry from my experience at other gated communities where i have almost always been stopped and asked which house i am headed to.
TDP1RA committee, please ensure that the guards are doing their job.
committees, stickers, and websites and whatnot are great. but it all boils down to enforcement
thank you for the great job so far and hope you will take my comments as a long time phase 1 resident as constructive.
cheers
jon
Yup!I agree with jon as above, the security guard not strict,I hope not to know any robbery in phase 1 ,just because of lazy to stop the outsiders car without car stickers, just spend a minute only .
ReplyDeleteMy neighbour driving luxury car ,not willing to cooperate to subscriber for the security scheme.
ReplyDeleteI not complaining ,here to let the TDRA Ph1 to be more alert and strictly security check for those vehicles ,motorbikes and those who walk pass through these compound under ph1.
etc.Note down thier I/C,car numbers .
even those residents not the subcriber.with out car sticker staying in Phase1 .
etc:(I can simply say that I stay in Jalan xxxxx,no:xx.)
the guards did not really know ,if they did not request for identity I/C.
Regards
George
Well this got off topic quickly. Let's get to the facts on this power outage. It was caused by the workers hacking through the tree with chain saws and not having adequately secured the branches they were sawing through that brought down the line. I'm all for praise when it is actually merited.
ReplyDeletePS I'm a resident and unlike many of the respondents to this blog I choose not to hide behind anonymity.
steve Jourdan what you want from here??
ReplyDeleteSo what did you do on that incident?
